The area of quantum machine learning (QML) is a young one and is expanding quickly. QML builds artificial intelligence that utilizes quantum technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of learning algorithms. In order to overcome the difficulties of merging quantum computation and machine learning and to advance our understanding in this field, interdisciplinary solid cooperation is required. The lecture’s objectives are to introduce QML to the audience and to examine the field’s scope as well as its technical difficulties.

The speaker, Dr. Amlan Chakrabarti is a Full Professor at the A.K.Choudhury School of Information Technology at the University of Calcutta. He was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the School of Engineering, Princeton University, USA during 2011-2012. He has 20+ years of experience in Engineering Education and Research. Talk on Building Quantum Computers and the realms of its possibilities

by Dr. CM Chandrashekar, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai

More Details

The Webinar will feature an expert talk from Dr. CM Chandrashekar, Institue of Mathematical Sciences(IMSc),  Chennai at 10 AM (IST).

Duration: 2 Hours

Quantum systems that can exist in different states at the same time form qubit, the building block of quantum computers.   Many outcomes can be simultaneously evaluated using qubits resulting in exponentially faster calculating power.  A fully fault-tolerant 50-100 qubits may be able to perform tasks which surpass the capabilities of best-performing classical computers.   I will first present some problems of practical relevance which need the power of quantum computers to address them. Though the last two decades have seen immense progress in our ability to control and engineer quantum systems, building quantum computers with practical relevance has been a challenging task.  With different quantum systems still in the race for being efficient qubits, claims for supremacy are changing gears.   I will present an overview of various quantum systems being pursued to build quantum computers, the current state of the art and the challenges ahead in the field.

Talk about the Emergence of Quantum Technology and Quantum Computation

by Prof. Prasanta K. Panigrahi, IISER, Kolkata

More Details

The Webinar will feature an expert talk from Prof.  Prasanta K. Panigrahi, IISER, Kolkata at 10 AM (IST).

Duration: 2 Hours

This talk will focus on Quantum technologies that purely rely on quantum mechanical phenomena such as quantum superposition and quantum entanglement and makes it possible to perform tasks such as teleportation and dense coding, which is impossible for classical computers.

Quantum computers employ qubits as compared to digital computers, which store data as bits (ones and zeros in binary), whereas, in the former, the superposition principle opens up enormous possibilities, allowing for incredibly quick parallel
and simultaneous calculations. Quantum physics states that merely looking at the system changes its
characteristics. This property is widely used in developing protocols for secured communication. One of
the remarkable achievements is the quantum-protected encryption keys to improve communication
security. For entangled systems, If one changes the attributes of one of the systems, the other correlated
system changes as well. Entangled systems can be used to identify whether data transmission has been
tampered with, and is the resource for most of the information-theoretic tasks.
