Design and Development of Quantum Computing Toolkit (Simulator, Workbench) and Capacity Building

Participating institutes

QSim is one of the first initiatives in the country to address the common challenge of advancing the Quantum Computing research frontiers in India. This project was executed collaboratively by IISc Bangalore, IIT Roorkee, and C-DAC with the support of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

QSim Features

It would be the first step to building the capacity and capability in QC research in the nation.

  • Leverages IISc’s density matrix quantum simulator and IBM’S Qiskit.
  • Integrated Python editor.
  • Instant quantum circuit generation.
  • Fine-tune noise/error parameters
  • Multiple measurement methods
  • Submit, track, visualize quantum programs simulated on powerful HPC supercomputers.
  • Pre-loaded Quantum programs and algorithms.
  • Secure user login and profile management.

Centre for Excellence in Quantum Technology

The project aims to develop quantum technology in India. It is a collaboration between the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the Raman Research Institute (RRI), and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Bengaluru.

High Performance Programmable Simulation Framework for Quantum Network / Internet Communication

The objective of the project is to develop a framework to simulate quantum communication networks on high-performance classical computing systems.

The framework shall allow the users to model and design protocols for quantum communication networks. It can be used to study the behavior of the quantum channels with different network elements. It shall offer mechanisms for synchronization between the network elements. It can be used to study the effects of multiple entities, channel length, etc.

MAQAN (Metro Area Quantum Access Network)

  • Metro Area Quantum Access Network is a collaborative MeitY-funded project between IIT Madras, C-DAC Bangalore, ERNET, and SETS Chennai.
  • The project aims to demonstrate a last-mile quantum network testbed in Chennai based on CoW and DPS protocols.
  • The project aims to develop indigenous hardware, firmware, and software for deployment over MAQAN.
