C-DAC’s Quantum Outreach Program is an initiative from C-DAC Bangalore to conduct a series of outreach and educational workshops, short-term certification programs, and tech conclaves, showcasing the research and development activities in the field of Quantum Computing & Communication technologies. Prof. Apoorva Patel, from the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, launched the Quantum outreach webinar series and delivered an Inaugural talk on ‘Quantum Technologies and its directions and prospects’. His presentation gave insights into Quantum algorithms, simulations(Qsim), quantum cryptography, the density matrix simulator developed by IISc, and future prospects.
Short biography of Prof. Apoorva Patel:
Prof. Apoorva Patel is a Professor at the Centre for High Energy Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is notable for his work on quantum algorithms, and the application of information theory concepts to understand the structure of genetic languages. His major field of work has been the theory of quantum chromodynamics, where he has used lattice gauge theory techniques to investigate spectral properties, phase transitions, and matrix elements.
He was a Scientific Associate, at CERN between 1987–1989, and then in 1989, he joined the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, as a faculty member. At C-DAC we are proud to be associated with the professor for the various Quantum projects. Specifically, the Density matrix simulator developed by his team is the core behind QSim.
